Funny Supernatural

I was never a fan of supernatural but last night I watched an episode of Supernatural with my sister which is quite a fan herself. A scene from this episode is really, really funny. I have never laughed like that watching a tv series, not even Friends which I really like. It seems like I cant embed this video here so I will post a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6flc8mJPMEY

It is funny bcos the character, Dean was never scared but he was infected with a disease which made him scared of everything. There's a surprise at the end of the episode. The other main actor decided to play a prank on Dean and the result: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnmWcWs3fqA

Living in contentment

I have just look at pics of a friend's trip to India. In one of the pictures is a pic of the slum. It really reminds me of the movie, slumdog millionaire. The thing that captured me the most is my friend's caption for that pic. I quote:

"The view from my room window - the slums where the impoverished live - But I never really felt sorry for any of them. Because despite their circumstances, when I looked into their eyes I saw no trace of poverty. The only things I saw were a wealth of

Happiness and Contentment.
God bless India."

I come to think of my life. What kind of life do I want to live? Nowadays, in the working world we can see people get caught in the never ending rat race to the top. To what top, I dont know. We always want more money but its never enough. This brings me to another important financial aspect, savings. Its no wonder that a person will never get to save anything from their salary. They keep on whining," If only I have a better pay then, I can save more". If a person think that way, they will never get to save anything. It all comes down to how do we spend our money and are we contented with the things that we have.

The people in the slum, they dont have much but they are still happy and content with the things that thay have. If we know how to be content with the things that we have, we wouldnt want to spend so much on unnecessary things. We dont need to follow other people's standard. We know for ourselves what we can afford and what would makes us happy. Wise person wouldnt waste their life away for nothing.

In this time of recession, I'm sure that a lot of people would say money is very much a necessesity. I agree that money is necessary but it depends on ourself whether the money that we have is sufficient or not. People might answer me back that I could say that bcos I never experience the hardship. I do understand what it means to have no money but still need to pay bills and so on. I have experienced that. I have to make do with eating just rice porridge to save on rice, no cloth buying and so on. That happened to me when I was in a foreign land with no relatives to help me and I do not want to burden my family and friends.

Ecclesiastes 8:15
So I commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun.

Hebrew 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

I hope that I will always bring with me this pearly wisdom all throughout my life. Let us enjoy life with contentment. Contentment should not be confused with complacent. Be joyful always!! =)

Work, anyone???

If u ask me did I go to work this morning? I would answer, yes. But its not entirely true. My diary for the day is like this:

9 am: Arrive at the office
9-11 : No work
11-12.30: Do nothing
12.30-1.30: Lunch
1.30-4.00: No work and do nothing again
4-4.30: Prepare to leave >>>exodus

So, basically I'm not doing any work. Let me tell u something about the exodus at work. Only one person has to start it and the rest soon will follow. The only diference from the Israelite exodus is, our exodus out of the office took only 4 mins instead of 40 years.=)

Me, with nothing to do is idly surfing the net. I will do this until I get really sick of it that I wanna puke. It is true what they say, idle mind makes the heart wander or in this case my hand is doing the wandering...

Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night Time

Have you ever read a book over and over again?? I know I do. There's this book. Its the ONLY book that I have ever read again and again and again and....I never get bored. Its like listening to a timeless classic that can never fade. The title of the book is " The Curious Incident of The Dog In The Night Time". Its funny, mysterious, lots of random facts yet poignantly sad. It was written from the point of view of a mathematically genius authistic boy who decided to write a detective book to investigate the murder of his neighbour's dog. Well, I recommend this book if you are out of ideas on what book to read. Here's one of the review on the book:

Christopher John Francis Boone knows all the countries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7,057. He relates well to animals but has no understanding of human emotions. He cannot stand to be touched. Although gifted with a superbly logical brain, Christopher is autistic. Everyday interactions and admonishments have little meaning for him. Routine, order and predictability shelter him from the messy, wider world. Then, at fifteen, Christopher's carefully constructed world falls apart when he finds his neighbor's dog, Wellington, impaled on a garden fork, and he is initially blamed for the killing.

Christopher decides that he will track down the real killer and turns to his favorite fictional character, the impeccably logical Sherlock Holmes, for inspiration. But the investigation leads him down some unexpected paths and ultimately brings him face to face with the dissolution of his parents' marriage. As he tries to deal with the crisis within his own family, we are drawn into the workings of Christopher's mind.

And herein lies the key to the brilliance of Mark Haddon's choice of narrator: The most wrenching of emotional moments are chronicled by a boy who cannot fathom emotion. The effect is dazzling, making for a novel that is deeply funny, poignant, and fascinating in its portrayal of a person whose curse and blessing is a mind that perceives the world literally.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is one of the freshest debuts in years: a comedy, a heartbreaker, a mystery story, a novel of exceptional literary merit that is great fun to read.

Sadly, I dont have the book anymore. I donated the book when I moved back to Kuching. I wish I still have that book...:(

A song for my generation

Here's a song which I think truly defines my hope for the future of my generation, Gen Y(those born in 1980 to mid 90's). I believe that this is our time to make a change fearlessly, to make ourselves bloom like the pretty flowers. Below is the lyrics to this song:

You're coming up like a flower

You're coming up through the cracks that live 'round here

Everybody knows we have no fear

We are the wind of change coming

We take a stand where so many never go

We will shout it out to let you know

This is my generation

We want an answer to the questions

We want to knock down all the walls they built for you

We want to know the truth not be lied to

We want to know the face of freedom

We want to make a place where we can learn to love

Build a world that we can be proud of

This is my generation

Cause we just want to dance all night

Live inside the spark of life

This might be the only time around

By the way, this is the theme song for a tv series, 'American Dreams'. That explains the old scenes in the video.

Get my stuff done

According to dictionary.com, procrastination means to defer action, delay, to put off till another day or time. Dont we all looooovee to do that?? I've just chat with a friend who has just committed said act. When I said, all of us always do that and I got a reply of " it shows just how human we are". Yea, I agree with him. Even though there are people out there who are very efficient with their time, I believe that sometimes, they do procrastinate just to entertain themselves. Most of times, procrastinating seems to be harmless but I think we need to do this cautiously as not cause opportunities lost. Lets watch a video of getting my stuff done, procrastination in action.:))

So, people...Lets get our stuff done. :D

Choosing friends, Choosing relatives

Being back home and surrounded by Bidayuh people(I'm bidayuh btw) at work place made me think about relatives a lot. When I'm away from home, I've always feel contented with the friends I have. Come to think of it, I think I felt that way cos I can choose friends and when would I like to hang out with them. Its all to my convenience. But, thats not the case with relatives. We cant choose who to hang out and when to hang out with them. Sometimes, they really irks me but I love them the same and I try to learn how to see through their eyes....I hope that I wouldnt be like a certain relative of mine who is so full of himself that he just ignore his relatives that are not in the same 'league' as him. My friends & family, I love you all!!!!

Rain, rain go away

Hmmm...i feel itchy all over (not literally). I've always been curious what the "heck" blog is. So, wanted to try writing one and here I am. Writing on a rainy day in the office, waiting for the time for my interview, which was cancelled last week. sigh...New year has always brought out the sense of renewal in me. I feel energized and hopeful for the year ahead. I hope it stays on as long as possible. yea, I NEED too!! I'm actually excited to see the flood cos not everyday that I get to see something like this, its quite entertaining to see people trying to catch fish in the drain or the river especially if there is a fish pond nearby, talking bout taking advantage here:) At the same time I'm sad to see those people that suffer from the flood and the extent of damage and loss incurred seems to be humungous.

Yesterday, we celebrated my aunt's 50th birthday. Time sure pass by quickly. She's half a century already!! It makes me wonder how would I be like when I am that age. Will I live to that age? Will I become a better woman? Who knows. At the moment, I'm happy living my young single life..Ahh...the bliss of ignorance and young age..hehe..Well, I hope I will turn out fine. I will try to.
